After the marriage separation between Marie Barban and Pierre Tabaux, her second husband, she was forced to go into service to provide for her and her seven-year-old son Guillaume Lalonde. Due to the difficult times, she could forsee being unable to support him in the future. She requested from René Cuillerier, the court appointed tutor of her minor children, the two hundred and sixty-six livres, six sols owed to the succession by the Dames Religieuses Hospitalieres. Marie Madeleine de Lalonde, wife of Guillaume Daoust and Jean Baptiste Lalonde both forfeited their part of the succession for the upbringing of Guillaume Lalonde for the next four years (till he was eleven and able to support himself!).
